What is a septic system?

A septic system is an onsite system design to handle wastewater where a public sewer system is not available. A conventional system consists of a tank, distribution box, and drain field.
Do I need a septic for my new home build?
If your project is to be built in an area where a public sewer system is not available, you will need an on-site system to treat your wastewater.
Can we build one where I want my home?
Every lot is unique and should be evaluated by a designer, but most characteristics that provide a viable home for your subsurface system. There are many factors that must be considered when a system is designed such as seasonal high water table (a restrictive layer in the soil profile that is difficult for water to pass through), elevation of the leach field, and the native soils ability to accept the treated wastewater.
